As we head into the lion season we ask that we all be ethical and responsible in what we harvest. With help from Ernie Milgate colored flyers were mailed out with each harvest permit to help with the age and identification. Thanks Ernie!!!
The UFH had a booth at the 2007 Hunting and Conservation Expo in SLC.

Utah Federation of Houndsmen 2007 Bear Recommendations.
Over the past few months, the Utah Federation of Houndsmen have been discussing concerns and requests with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources. One concern is the amount of bear harvest by non-sportsmen in certain areas due to bear problems. The division understood our concern and the UFH have agreed to work with the DWR in this critical area.
Understand that the bear in these specific areas are going to be dealt with by ADC or the Division, if the Houndsmen don't take the initiative. Therefore, the Houndsmen have agreed to support the Division on an increase of tags in these critical areas as well as providing Houndsmen to assist in the harvest of the bear in the specific areas. This will accomplish two things:
1. It will allow some of the bear that would normally be taken by ADC or the Division to be taken by Sportsmen.
2. It will allow some of the Sportsmen who draw a tag, the opportunity to have the Utah Federation of Houndsmen assist in the harvest of their bear in the specific area.
The UFH have also discussed the areas of summer training and the Division has agreed to add all bear units except the LaSal to our summer training season. We have also expressed our concern with the heat during summer training and the Division is willing to allow a 5:00 a.m. hunting time during summer training season.
